Generals Modern
This is a community-led effort to modernize and reimagine Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour in two major phases:
Phase 1: Modernization Layer
- Replace the outdated DirectX 8.1 rendering backend with BGFX
- Update shaders, lighting, and graphical systems for modern GPUs
- Support for 1440p / 4K / ultrawide resolutions and proper UI scaling
- Replace deprecated libraries (e.g., Miles Sound System, SafeDisk, etc.)
- Maintain full compatibility with vanilla Zero Hour gameplay

Phase 2: Full Overhaul Mod
- Three new core factions: GDP (Global Defense Pact), ESF (Eurasian Strategic Front), and FNC (Autonomous Resistance Collective)
- Modern drones, cyberwarfare mechanics, and asymmetric doctrines
- New battlefield layers: VTOLs, naval combat, amphibious assaults
- Expanded general powers and building-based upgrades
